Gifford names new cardiopulmonary manager

RANDOLPH 5/30/07 Registered respiratory therapist Denise Rochman has joined Gifford Medical Center as cardiopulmonary manager, overseeing Gifford’s respiratory therapy, echocardiography and stress testing team.

Rochman was educated at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and is registered by the National Board of Respiratory Care. She previously worked for 11 years as a respiratory therapist, including six years spent as a traveling therapist.

Her work brought her to Vermont, where she has family and quickly discovered she wanted to stay.

She looked for a permanent position. “I put in for a lot of positions. This was the one I really wanted,” Rochman says of Gifford.

Gifford’s Cardiopulmonary Department has a diversified skill set and her position allows her both hands-on work and managerial responsibility. “That’s what I wanted about this job is the working-manager part of it,” she says, excited about her new role and welcoming workplace.

She additionally holds certifications in basic life support, advanced cardiac life support, pediatric advanced life support and neonatal resuscitation.

Rochman lives in Burlington. She plans to move closer to Gifford. In her spare time, she serves on the board of the nonprofit Cystic Fibrosis Lifestyle Foundation, which aims to link cystic fibrosis patients ages 13-24 with physical activities that will help manage their disease.
