RANDOLPH, Aug. 20, 2007 Eric Medved has joined Gifford Medical Center as its new rehabilitation services manager.

Originally from Vermont, Medved comes to Gifford with a wealth of experience in physical therapy and management along with a special certification in vestibular rehabilitation – a therapy for treating balance disorders such as vertigo.

Medved most recently worked in Maine at Blue Hill Memorial Hospital and at a private ear, nose and throat practice where for the last year he specialized in balance therapy.

He has a total of 11 years experience following graduation in 1996 from Simmons College in Boston, where he earned a master’s degree in physical therapy. He worked as physical therapist at acute care hospitals in Connecticut, Washington and Maine before moving to management roles beginning in 2002. He earlier studied economics at the University of Vermont.

He joins Gifford for the opportunity to return to Vermont and to work at a critical access hospital – a federal designation both Gifford and Blue Hill in Maine have earned.

“Gifford was appealing because it is also a critical access hospital and I had worked in that setting. Gifford also is a well-run organization with people who are positive and friendly,” Medved says.

A Putney native, Medved is staying with family in Waterbury while he looks for a home closer to Randolph. He enjoys cross-country skiing, speed skating, cycling and writing for N’East Magazine.
