Aloha … from BethCBrookfield artist's watercolors,
pen and inks in Gifford Gallery
RANDOLPH, Feb. 23, 2010 – Watercolor and pen and ink artist Gene Parent of Brookfield will have his works on display in the Gifford Medical Center art gallery from March 3-April 14.
A largely self-taught watercolor artist, Parent is a lifelong Vermonter, born in Burlington, raised in Richmond and now living in Brookfield with his family.
“I get the most satisfaction out of painting the natural beauty of Vermont, especially her mountains and lakes. The spontaneity of watercolors, (while) sometimes frustrating, is very exciting in its unpredictability,” Parent says. “I especially enjoy working in pen and ink, which has amazing flexibility.”
Parent has had solo shows at Gifford, Copley Woodlands in Stowe, LaBrioche and Kellogg-Hubbard Library in Montpelier and Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Barre. He has also shown at Mary Bryan Art Gallery in Jeffersonville, Old Mill Gallery in Essex Center, T.W. Wood Gallery in Montpelier, Studio Place Arts in Barre, Chandler in Randolph and the V Gallery in Woodstock.
In addition to watercolors and pen and ink, Parent works in pastels, acrylics and oils. He is a member of the Vermont Watercolor Society, the Vermont Pastel Society and The Paletteers.
The Gifford Gallery is just inside the main entrance of the Randolph hospital at 44 S. Main St. Call Gifford at (802) 728-7000 for more information.
