RANDOLPH, Feb. 11, 2008 – An experienced, internationally renowned plastic surgeon with an impressive list of credentials began seeing patients at Gifford Medical Center this month.
Dr. Guy Rochman serves as a Harvard Medical School clinical instructor, chief
of plastic and reconstructive surgery at Milton Hospital in Massachusetts, and evenfounded an international health-care business, WorldPath Medicine, headquartered in Boston. The global health maintenance organization connects international patients with a large network of physicians in all fields of medicine and provides services that include multi-aircraft, 24-hour, worldwide air ambulance transportation, accommodations, translators and help with visas.
Dr. Rochman is also a senior staff surgeon at Mount Auburn Hospital, a major Harvard Medical School teaching institution in Cambridge, Mass.; part of the staff of Newton Wellesley Hospital in Newton, Mass.; a member of the Department of Surgery at Huashan Hospital in Shanghai, China; and a visiting professor at Shanghai’s Fudan University.
With more than 20 years of experience to his credit, he begins a private practice at Gifford after buying property in East Randolph several years ago. A husband and father of two, Dr. Rochman has been coming to Vermont with his family for 25 years, including winter weekends spent skiing in Stowe. Since purchasing land in the state, he has been building a log cabin, barn, sheds and clearing fields in preparation of his second love – farming.
When warm weather comes and fences go up, Dr. Rochman will begin raising grass fed beef under the Danoli Farm name (coined from Dana and Olivia, his daughters’ names) and through Vermont Green Mountain Ranch, a business he’s started in the hopes of creating a brand name, farmer collaboration and market for Vermont grass fed beef.
His interest in Vermont, and now Randolph, led him to Gifford.
"It’s a new and exciting time in my life," he says of joining Gifford.
"My hope is to be spending more and more of my time there," he adds of his new Randolph community, where he hopes to be "contributor."
At Gifford, Dr. Rochman is contributing a new service at the hospital – plastic and cosmetic surgery. Facial cosmetic surgery; non-invasive facial rejuvenation, including lasers, fillers and Botox; breast surgery, including post-mastectomy reconstruction; liposuction; and laser hair removal are among the elective services Dr. Rochman will provide on Fridays and Mondays by appointment on the third floor of the Randolph hospital.
A graduate of Harvard College and Boston University School of Medicine, Dr. Rochman completed his general surgery internship and residency at what was then Beth Israel Hospital in Boston. His plastic and reconstructive surgery residency and fellowship were at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, where he went on to become assistant chief of service for the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
He is a member of professional organizations that include the American Medical Society, Massachusetts Medical Society, Massachusetts Plastic Surgery Society, the Russian Academy of Advanced Medical Sciences and some perhaps better-known in Vermont – the American Highland Cattle Association, New England Highland Cattle Association and the National Cattleman’s Beef Association.
