Aloha … from BethCHealthier Living Workshops to begin Aug. 20

After 25 years caring for area residents,
Dr. William Minsinger retires from Gifford

RANDOLPH, July 31, 2009 – Free workshops designed to add vitality to chronic disease sufferers’ lives resume Aug. 20 at Gifford Medical Center.

Healthier Living Workshops provide individuals with arthritis, asthma, heart disease, diabetes and other chronic illnesses help with a variety of symptoms. The six-week classes provide tools for better dealing with frustration, fatigue and pain. They help improve strength, flexibility and endurance as well as managing medications, healthier eating and improving communications with family, friends and health care providers.

Offered through the Vermont Blueprint for Health, past participants report increased energy, reduced stress, more self-confidence and fewer doctors’ visits as a result.

“These classes are really for anyone who is living with a chronic condition and hoping to improve their quality of life,” coordinator Susan Delattre said. “Living with a chronic condition can also be isolating, so this is also an opportunity to meet others coping with illness. And they’re free, which is great for participants.”

Caregivers of those with chronic illnesses are also welcome.

The workshops are Thursdays, Aug. 20 to Sept. 24 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Gifford Conference Center. The hospital and conference center are located at 44 S. Main St. (Route 12) in Randolph. Call Delattre at 728-2118 to register or for more information.
