RANDOLPH 6/27/07 – Gifford Medical Center’s outstanding team of professional chefs are offering healthy cooking classes this summer and fall.

Gifford buys local produce and serves patients and staff healthy, fresh options that rival restaurant fare. Gifford chefs Ed Striebe and Steve Morgan, both former New England Culinary Institute instructors, will now share their healthy cooking techniques during classes beginning in August.

Healthy Grilling for Quick Dinners will be offered Aug. 29, Sushi Basics is on Sept. 5 and Soups will be offered Oct. 24. The chefs note that sushi is not always raw fish, but is anything on vinegared rice.

The classes are from 6-9:30 p.m., cost $30 each and are limited to eight people. Participants will experience a hands-on workshop, will receive giveaways and can eat what they cook during class. Students are also asked to bring notebooks to record what they learn.

“We are so excited about teaching these classes and helping the community realize that healthy cooking doesn’t have to be a chore nor does it have to be labor intensive,” Gifford chef Ed Striebe says. “With a little guidance and fun we can improve the way in which our community looks at food and increase the health benefits as well.”

The classes will fill up fast. To register, call 728-2373.
