RANDOLPH, Dec. 20, 2007 – Northfield photographer John Knox’ scenes of Vermont will be on display in the Gifford Art Gallery beginning Jan. 2.

A 40-year resident of Northfield, Knox is an avid Red Sox fan, mathematics teacher at Vermont Technical College and serious photographer. He specializes in photographing Vermont in all four seasons. His works are also for sale on small cards and have been published by Vermont Life Magazine, including a cover shot.

Knox was born in Woodsville, N.H., graduated with a commission as a second lieutenant from Norwich University and served a tour in Vietnam. Returning to civilian life in Vermont, Knox earned a master’s degree in mathematics from the University of Vermont and went on to teach at Northfield and Barre high schools and then, beginning in 1972, at Vermont Technical College.

Baseball has been an important aspect of Knox’ life as a player, umpire and fan. He played baseball in high school, with the American Legion, in college and then professionally in Canada.  He umpired baseball as a member of the Central Vermont Umpires Association for 25 years.

Knox is married, with two children and one grandchild.

See his photography through Feb. 13 at the Gifford Art Gallery, located just left of the hospital’s main lobby. Gifford Medical Center is at 44 S. Main St. (also Route 12) in Randolph.
