Gifford welcomes anesthesiologist

RANDOLPH 6/12/07 - Anesthesiologist, and renowned accordion player, Dr. Jon-Richard Knoff has joined Gifford Medical Center in Randolph.

Dr. Knoff previously worked at 170-bed Southern New Hampshire Medical Center in Nashua. He came to Gifford in February as a locum tenens, or temporary doctor, but found himself at home at Gifford and in Randolph.

“I like the family atmosphere of the hospital,” says Dr. Knoff. “Everyone seems to know each other and is very friendly. It’s a nice work environment.”

Dr. Knoff is certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology and belongs to such professional organizations as the American Society of Anesthesiology and the American Medical Association.

His residency and medical degree were earned at the University of Kansas in Wichita. His bachelor’s degree is in music performance from the University of Missouri Conservatory of Music in Kansas City.

Originally from Norway, Dr. Knoff began a career in music as an accordion player in Paris before deciding to follow his father’s footsteps and become a doctor. He worked as an anesthesiologist in Kansas before practicing in New Hampshire and now Vermont.

Dr. Knoff has moved to Randolph. His wife, Dr. Lan Nguyen-Knoff, is a family practitioner specializing in pain management. Together they have three children, Kassandra, 12, Johan, 10, and Katarina, 8. Dr. Knoff continues to play the accordion, hikes, skies and is learning golf.

Patients will see Dr. Knoff prior to surgery at Gifford and also for outpatient procedures such as spinal taps and for pain relieving spinal injections.
