RANDOLPH, May 23, 2008 – Vermont Department of Disabilities, Aging and Independent Living (DAIL) Commissioner Joan Senecal will visit the Menig Extended Care Facility at Gifford Medical Center in Randolph on May 29 to deliver the nursing home a prestigious award for quality.
At a 3:30-4:30 p.m. gathering of Menig nursing home staff, residents and their families, and hospital officials, Senecal will award Menig the Nursing Home Quality Award and more than $18,000.
The award is based on the results of resident satisfaction surveys, a lack of substantiated complaints, limited deficiencies, low employee turnover and participation in the Gold Star employer program.
For the fourth consecutive year, Menig has also won the Gold Star award from DAIL and the Vermont Health Care Association.
Media are invited to see Senecal present the award and speak to nursing home staff, residents and families about the honor and the quality of care delivered at Menig. Other topics of interest may include the demand for nursing home care in the region, where in particularly Orange County nursing homes are sparse, the population is aging and demand for care is high; Menig’s ability to attract and retain staff; and the facility’s lengthy waiting list.
