Aloha … from BethCQuit smoking group meeting Wednesday evenings at Gifford

RANDOLPH, Dec. 29, 2009 Gifford Medical Center’s Tobacco Cessation Program will be offering an ongoing group meeting every Wednesday for anyone ready to quit tobacco.

Called the Quit In Person Group, participants will meet in the hospital’s Conference Center from 5:30-6:30 p.m. beginning Jan. 6.

“What’s new about this group is that people can join at any time,” says program coordinator Susan Delattre. “When they join the group, they will need to attend four sessions, as before, but now they can get started anytime, rather than having to wait, as sometimes happened in the past, for a new class series to begin.”

When people join the Quit in Person Group, they are eligible to receive up to eight weeks of free patches, gum or lozenges (known as nicotine replacement therapy). If group members are interested in using nicotine replacement therapy products, they can talk with the group facilitator, Kim Hannon-Brobst, about which of these aids would be the best for them to use. She will order the products for the participant and they will be shipped directly to the individual’s home.

For more information or to sign up for the Quit in Person Group, call Delattre at 728-2118. There is no cost to attend.
