Gifford providers serve as volunteer medical team for Vermont 100 race

Led by sports medicine doctors Rob Rinaldi and Hank Glass, Gifford Medical Center serves as the volunteer medical team and provides supplies for the Vermont 100 Mile Endurance Run and Ride to benefit Vermont Adaptive Ski and Sports. The event includes runners traveling distances of 100 kilometers and 100 miles as well as horses and riders each July.

Gifford nurses, doctors and others weigh-in the "ultra" runners at checkpoints throughout the approximately 30-hour race and treat everything from blisters to dehydration and exhaustion. Below are pictures from the July 18-20, 2008, run from one rain-soaked checkpoint in South Woodstock.
