Aloha … from BetheHospital constructing central registration area for patients
RANDOLPH, May 11, 2009 – Gifford Medical Center is constructing a central registration area in the main lobby of the hospital.
The change will result in a much-improved patient registration process. All patients will register in this one location, reducing confusion, improving efficiency and resulting in a better coordination of services. Also added will be an information desk just inside the main doors.
“This change is so exciting for Gifford,” said Gail Bourassa, Gifford director of patient access and financial services. “Patients’ experience at Gifford will be greatly improved through this change.
“We already have great care providers and other personnel. This change will allow patients to register for appointments and access that personnel with far less confusion.”
To create the new central registration area, construction will take place from about May 15 to Aug. 1. During this time, the main lobby will be closed. Patients and visitors will need to enter through the medical office (or doctors’ office) entrance just left of the main entrance in the hospital’s circular drive.
Patient registration, including for radiology and laboratory services, will temporarily be relocated to the medical office building. Signage and hospital personnel will help guide patients to their designation.
All other building entrances, including the Emergency Department entrance and the visitors’ entrance on the southern end of the hospital, will remain open. Parking will also be unaffected. Ambulatory Care Center patients can continue to register on the third floor. Gifford Ob/Gyn and Midwifery patients can also continue to register at that building.
The hospital is asking the public’s patience during this transition.
“Hundreds of people a day pass through the hospital,” notes Strategic Projects Director Theron Manning. “Temporarily closing our main lobby is not easy. I hope people are able to bear with us during this transition. We’re optimistic that the result will be worth the inconvenience.”
