RANDOLPH, Dec. 5, 2007 Gifford Medical Center is once again helping Randolph area residents stay fit amid winter’s chill through its indoor walking program, Your Steps to Health.

The free program begins Dec. 13 and will last through the cold weather months. The program takes place on Mondays and Thursdays from 10-11:30 a.m. and is coordinated by physical therapy assistant Jody Lynam and hospital volunteers.

“While it is important to be active all year, the Vermont weather does not always make it easy. It can be difficult or unsafe to exercise outdoors,” Rehabilitation Services Manager Eric Medved says. “Gifford is once again offering its indoor walking program to enable Randolph area residents to continue fitness routines or a begin new routine for the new year.

“Furthermore, our experts on fitness will provide educational guidance on how to monitor your health progress.”

The program starts in Gifford’s new visitors entrance on the southern end of the hospital. Walkers can come anytime between 10-11:30 a.m. and follow Your Steps to Health route markers throughout the hospital. Free monthly talks on health-related topics will also be offered.

No pre-registration is necessary. Call Gifford’s Rehabilitation Services Department at (802) 728-2229 to learn more.
